Strokes of Mindfulness.

--

Image writer’s own. Pen and watercolour fox.

Paint kisses the canvas gently, merging with the slightly damp hues already there. Hundreds of carefully chosen strokes begin to form a recognisable form.

A diluted tone creates shadow. A preserved area creates light.

Music plays softly from a device on the left, and I am caught in this moment of mindful hypnosis, dabbing and dotting paint onto heavy paper. The texture is a ghost-like image of bark the paper was made from. And on it I create, hoping to feel closer to my natural self.

Image writer’s own. Acrylic on canvas.
