Winter Sun

I close my eyes and tip my head back, welcoming the bright delicious intensity of the winter sunlight. It lights up my eyelids like stained glass, and I relish it.

It’s low in the sky, but its soothing caress still contains nourishing power. The winter sun gives me energy, and as I photosynthesise I give thanks for a brighter day without heavy, low cloud.

So I sit for a moment, and pause, taking deep breaths and inhaling the gift of sunlight in December.
